Heather Pettit’s equestrian journey began in the hunter/jumper ring as a child, where she received formal instruction at Moore Stables in North Carolina. These early years instilled in her a strong foundation of horsemanship, discipline, and a love for developing young horses.
As an adult, Heather earned the extraordinary opportunity to work for Australian 5 event rider Kate Chadderton* at her training facility in Woodbine, Maryland. During this time, Heather honed her skills as a horse trainer and competitor, participating in local shows with her resale prospects, including her first Irish Sport Horse, Presley.
Her experience in Maryland included:
- Restarting off-track Thoroughbreds for the team’s successful sales program.
- Developing young Irish imports, preparing them for competitive careers.
- Holding training positions for Warmblood and Arabian breeders, producing quality young horses with a strong foundation.
- Volunteering her services as an off-site trainer for Days End Farm Horse Rescue, providing second chances to horses in need.
Since rejoining her family in Arizona, Heather has brought her expertise to Syzygy Farm, where she focuses on developing Irish Draught and Irish Draught Sport Horses for competition and breeding. Heather’s lifelong dedication to horse care, training, and advocacy continues to shape Syzygy Farm’s mission of producing exceptional sport horses with sound minds, strong bodies, and competitive potential.
